The Andersonville Sustainable Community Alliance is a nonprofit community development organization serving Andersonville, a historic Swedish neighborhood on Chicago's north side. Andersonville is now a multicultural community known for its locally owned, independent businesses, reflecting Hispanic, Middle Eastern, Swedish, Japanese, and other heritages. We are a community full of arts organizations with a significant gay and lesbian population and a dynamic civic life shaped by highly engaged block clubs and other neighborhood groups.
ASCA works with the local chamber of commerce, businesses, aldermanic offices, and other organizations, to foster a healthy and vital neighborhood economy. Our mission includes support for women- and minority-owned businesses, bringing new businesses into the neighborhood, working for a more ecologically sustainable community, and trying to preserve and enhance the aesthetic charm of our streets and structures.
