Deborah Slater Dance Theater/Art of the MatterSan Francisco
Art of the Matter (AOTM) exists to support experimental art forms and educational outreach. Our approach to art and education reflects our belief that art and everyday life are not, in fact, separate events but that Art is the human attempt to create meaningful paths through the chaos of life experience. In pursuit of this mission, AOTM acts as the umbrella organization for The Company She Keeps, an amateur multi-ethnic, community based performing group; Studio 210, a low-cost rehearsal and performance facility since 1980 located in San Franciscos Mission District which is home to a variety of independent artists and arts organizations; and Deborah Slater Dance Theater (DSDT), a professional dance-theater company dedicated to the creation and production of evening-length works that explore timely social issues. we are the umbrella organization for Deborah Slater Dance Theater, a performance ensemble of dancers and actors. Founded by Artistic Director and Choreographer Deborah Slater, Deborah Slater Dance Theater (DSDT) has been performing in the Bay Area for the past two decades. The companys work has been seen in New York, Philadelphia, Canada and up and down the West Coast and is know for the dexterous mixing of words and movement, taking acrobatic movement into the deepest unconscious. Ms. Slater, in her work as an artist, has collaborated with such well-known artists as Rinde Eckert, Bill Fontana and Sara Felder, and created work for numerous Bay Area dancers and dance companies. |
