Theta Chapter, Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc.

Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Incorporated is a professional organization of registered professional nurses and student nurses representing many cultures and diverse ethnic backgrounds.  The organization was chartered at Freedmans Hospital in Washington, DC., (now Howard University Hospital) in 1932.  There are over 100 graduate chapters and 39 undergraduate chapters located in 33 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.  Our theme is, Developing Healthy Communities through Advocacy, Collaboration, Education, Leadership, Research, and Service.  The local chapter Theta was chartered on April 4, 1948.  The Philadelphia Chapter emerged through the combined efforts of registered nurses in the Nurses Alumnae of Douglas Memorial Hospital and the sororitys national officers.  The programs and project of Theta Chapter stem from the National mandates.
