The Cultural Spring is an exciting, ambitious project to get more people in Sunderland and South Tyneside to experience and be inspired by the arts.
We've been working with the best local, regional and national artists to ensure our programme really engages, enthuses, entertains and educates the 100,000 people living in our wards.
A tour of bite-sized theatre shows is to start across South Tyneside from February 2018 until April 2018. The four shows will each tour around 5 community venues in South Shields, Hebburn and Jarrow.
The idea behind this Bite-Size Theatre project is to introduce good quality, short shows into local communities, giving people of all ages an opportunity to see something different in venues in their own neighbourhoods.
The four shows are: Wee Red and Her Wolf, a tale inspired by Little Red Riding Hood from author Laura Lindow.
Best in the World, a hilarious story of personal achievement told through the world of darts.
The Annual (Inaugural) Walter Plinge Memorial Lecture, in which writer Eric MacLennan explores true and not-so-true stories from South Tyneside.
Becoming Scheherazade, a play incorporating the 1001 stories of the Arabian Nights with the real story of Arab immigration to Europe.
Our first show that is available to buy tickets to is Wee Red and Her Wolf. suitable for ages 7 years+. Please see below details for all the shows and venues.
