Not Quite Opera Productions, Inc. is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 corporation dedicated to the development and production of original musical works for the stage. It is our mission to develop dynamic, challenging and richly nuanced world premier musical theater works, and to nurture local artists to create highly artistic productions with uniquely SF voices, perspectives, diversity and issues. Our vision is to present relevant theatrical experiences that deeply move our audiences, offer far-reaching insights and transform their perspectives on the human condition.
NQO owns and operates The Alcove Theater, just one block from Union Square and offers one-of-a-kind San Francisco entertainment. Located on the 5th floor of the historic Native Sons building at 414 Mason Street, this welcoming and intimate 49-seat theater combines Victorian architectural details with a contemporary color scheme. The audience views the show from cabaret seating around a raised semi-circular thrust stage. There is plenty of leg room and not a bad seat in the house! Enjoy refreshments from the unique stainless steel concession bar.
