Founded in 2000, Seattle's Akropolis Performance Lab strives to fulfill its four-fold mission:
%u2022 to connect the performer directly with memory (individual and collective), fantasy, and mythology by means of psycho-physical exercises and paratheatrical activities;
%u2022 to investigate means of communicating this inner process through the precise, dynamic use of poetry, song, movement, dance, and action;
%u2022 to create simple, engaging theatrical productions at the confluence of the performers%u2019 personal resources and traditional (artistic and cultural) material; and,
%u2022 to reveal through detailed, rigorous performance the impulses of the human psyche toward states of grace.
Past productions include Macbeth (2001), Song of Songs (2002), Beautiful Treasure (2002), Jeanne the Maid: A Trial and Execution of Jeanne D'Arc (2003), Russian Opus No. 1 (2003), Dream of a Ridiculous Man (2004), Suzan-Lori Parks 365 Days/365 Plays: Seattle (2006), and Seneca's Oedipus (2006).
