Our Mission: Colectivo El Pozo is committed to expand theatrical opportunities for Latina/o artists that are mutually interested in furthering Spanish-language & bilingual theatre works on Chicago stages, as well as, exploring the range of themes within the broader scope of immigration. We feel it necessary to tackle this impactful artistic genre, that is Theatre, and create a space where the immigrant voice and narrative is regularly staged in the US.
Our History: Since its inception in 2009, Colectivo El Pozo has expanded theatrical opportunities for Chicago artists that are mutually interested in developing Spanish-language theatre works within the broader scope of immigration. Our work is original and driven by writers from the Latina/o diaspora in the US. Colectivo El Pozo develops and produces at least two new works per season, as well as staged dramatized readings throughout the year. Pozo strives for cutting edge theatre that incorporates a signature multimedia component to its productions. In addition, we collaborate with a rich & diverse enclave of artists that are invested in furthering our mission. Pozo offers a space where multidisciplinary artists with an interest in Spanish-language theatre can contribute in a meaningful way and thrive. In 2013, Colectivo El Pozo theatre company freshly emerged under new direction & organizational structure, being formally co- founded by Nancy García Loza & Raúl Dorantes.
