Bike Works has been working for kids, bikes, and community since 1996. For more than a decade we've worked to educate and empower youth, and make bicycling accessible and affordable to the Seattle community. Our programs invest in young people and encourage bicycling as a clean and healthy transportation alternative.
Located in the heart of the Columbia City neighborhood, we are committed to working in institutionally-neglected neighborhoods in south Seattle that lack easily accessible community programs and safe public spaces. Through time-intensive after-school mentoring programs and innovative bike riding opportunities, we reach youth who are not usually attracted to traditional enrichment activities, and help them realize their own self-worth within a community that supports, encourages and strengthens them.
