Today, AS220's downtown realm of three multi-use buildings, totaling more than 100,000 square feet bursts at the seams with four rotating exhibition spaces, a youth program, a print shop, a darkroom and digital photo lab, a high-tech fabrication and electronics lab, a black box theatre, a dance studio, four dozen artist live/work studios, around a dozen individual work studios, an organization-run bar and restaurant and a handful of locally-grown commercial and non-profit tenants. AS220's Performance Space at 115 Empire St showcases more than 100 visual artists and hosts thousands of performing artists annually; with events spanning poetry readings, film screenings, panel discussions and music of all genres. The AS220 Youth Studio, AS220's nationally recognized youth program, provides arts training to teenagers with a focus on those in juvenile detention or otherwise in the custody of the state. AS220's classes and rental studios are among the most affordable in the nation, enabling all Rhode Islanders to create, explore and contribute to artistic culture.
