"e" inc.'s mission is to help teach science literacy and community action to urban children and teens. While you
may already know that we deliver some of the best informal science education around to low-income children and youth, did you also know we generate citizen activism in absolutely every neighbor- hood site we serve?
In community centers and after schools throughout the city, teams of young people are taking responsibility for changing the planet, not tomorrow but today.
Using science as a springboard, they work to improve a specific challenge -- first, through changes in their own choices and then, in campaigns that involve others. In this way, "e" is succeeding in fashioning 'doers.'
Everyday, we see children become excited by the science they are mastering and proud as they make a difference now! What would happen if "e" could reach every child in the Greater Boston schools? What would happen if hundreds more teams worked toward a greener future?
Our exceptional and innovative science educators stimulate children and teens to make a difference...today. This school-year alone, "e" inc. taught over 1400 children in in-depth programs and helped them start and sustain over 30 separate team-based projects, creating sustainable solutions in their communities or supporting animal welfare more broadly.
While the answers to our environmental challenges will require a suite of solutions, few will succeed without a literate, involved, and committed citizenry. Making active citizenry a reality is what "e" inc. is all about.
At e inc. we believe that together we can create a truly sustainable world for all beings.
