Theatre Novi Most Presents: Isadora Duncan in Russia
Come learn more about Isadora Duncan, the American dancer whose quest to find "the highest intelligence in the freest body" led her, for a time, to Russia. The first American granted a visa to the fledgling Soviet Union, the works Duncan made during the Russian years are among her most powerful and her notes from that time are full of idealism and heartbreak. In this special lecture, Jeanne Bresciani will discuss the archetypes Duncan was exploring in Russia and her unique blending of classical artistic ideals with modern new physical languages to depict the energy of Revolution.

The evening includes:
Lecture on "Isadora in Russia" and Duncan dance demonstration by Jeanne Bresciani
Reading of poetry of Sergei Esenin by Vladimir Rovinsky
Wine and light food reception by Board of Directors Novi Most

Jeanne Bresciani M.A, I.M.A., Ph.D.,the main protégée of Maria Theresa Duncan, adopted daughter of Isadora Duncan, serves as Artistic Director for the Isadora Duncan International Institute, Inc. (IDII), founded by Maria-Theresa Duncan and Kay Bardsley in 1977. Jeanne is recognized nationally and internationally as a solo performer, choreographer, educator and scholar of unparalleled authority on Isadora Duncan's life, works and performance repertoire. All proceeds benefit the Fall, 2017 world premiere production of Dancing on the Edge. Theatre Novi Most presents the world premiere of Dancing on the Edge by Adam Kraar, a new play about Isadora and her lover, the Russian poet Sergei Esenin, Sept 7-10 at the Southern Theater.
