Brian Copelands critically acclaimed solo show, The Great American Sh*t Show returns to the stage in its boldest and most relevant iteration yet. Originally conceived during the tumultuous first Trump presidency, this show continues to challenge, entertain, and inspire as his second presidency unfolds. Taking place at The Theater at Sierra 2 Center in Sacramento on Saturday, June 7 at 7pm.
The Great American Sh*t Show blends razor-sharp humor, social commentary, and unforgettable storytelling. This years revival features four updated monologues tackling unrelenting themes: 1. Friendship and Ideological Divides: A deeply personal exploration of loyalty and values, as Brian grapples with whether to maintain a friendship with someone who has embraced a divisive movement. 2. Americas Identity and Legacy: A provocative inquiry into the concept of greatness in Americawhen it existed, for whom, and what it means today in a polarized nation. 3. The Evolution of #MeToo: A critical examination of the #MeToo movement's trajectory, questioning whether its momentum has faded and why cultural reckonings often lose steam. 4. Hope in Everyday Acts: A heartfelt look at the small but impactful actions of ordinary people, illustrating how collective effort and kindness can inspire hope and change. "The show will change and evolve as the Trump presidency continues because we must speak up and fight for our democracy, or we wont have one," says Copeland.

With every performance, Brian Copeland reinforces the importance of staying vigilant, speaking out, and finding hope in the actions of everyday heroes. ABOUT BRIAN COPELAND Brian Copeland is an award-winning comedian, playwright, actor, and author based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Launching his career at 18, he toured nationally, opening for legends like Smokey Robinson, Aretha Franklin, and Ray Charles, and performing at iconic venues such as the Universal Amphitheater and Constitution Hall. In 2004, Copeland debuted his groundbreaking solo play, Not a Genuine Black Man, exploring his childhood as one of the few African American residents in San Leandro, CA. The show became San Franciscos longest-running solo play and toured over 30 cities, including Off-Broadway. The book adaptation became a bestseller and is required reading in schools nationwide. Copeland has since written and performed critically acclaimed solo plays, including The Waiting Period (2015 Theater Bay Area Award), The Jewelry Box, The Scion (KQEDs Best New Play of 2014), and The Great American Sht Show*, co-created with Charlie Varon. His most recent work, Grandma & Me: An Ode to Single Parents, debuted in 2022. A familiar face in Bay Area broadcasting, Copeland has hosted programs on KTVU, ABC7, and KNTV, in addition to appearances on MTV, NBC, and Comedy Central. His acting credits include The Bucket List and Venom: Let There Be Carnage, with an upcoming role in Rob Reiners This Is Spinal Tap sequel.
