SEA OF GREEN Film Sunday Showing
This story is about the small town of Newfield in update New York and their high school basketball program. Beginning with 1986, the team went to the State Championship game and came up empty. In 2019, they had the team that everyone thought would finally bring home the trophy. The breezed through the season and the early rounds of the playoff, and prepared to go to the Final Four, when they heard that the tournament had been cancelled due to covid. That team never got to play in a State Championship game, despite ending the playoffs with a win. More tragedy struck--several key members of the Newfield community passed away due to covid. The players, coaches, parents and the community itself were devastated. This film tells the story of how that community, and their high school basketball program, finally overcame adversity and in 2022, they won it all.
