Join us for a comprehensive Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) series designed to help CEOs, CFOs, Executive Directors, and HR staff better understand workplace safety and claims management within your organization before it's needed.
February 11, 2025 - Intro to WCB
Overview of what constitutes an accident, when to report it, what can be expected as part of initial claims management, and employer involvement in the claims process.
March 11, 2025 - Claims Costs and Premiums
Review of Employer Rating (forecasting) and Yearly Claims Cost Summary (historical) reports to help employers understand how they can influence claims costs and eventual premium impacts.
April 8, 2025 - Modified Duties
When an injury happens, it's your responsibility to offer your employees modified work. Return-to-work planning helps you ensure a solid plan is in place to get injured workers back to work safely.
May 6, 2025 - Psychological Claims Management
Review of WCB policy and legislation related to psychological injuries, the claims decision-making process, psychological injury treatment, and how to successfully support your workers through recovery.
If there is time, each session may be able to have a Q&A period.

Meet Your Presenter
Al Hopwood has 17 years of experience with the Workers' Compensation Board (WCB), during which he has worked in case management, training, and the claims audit department. He is in his second year with the Industry Support team, where he has an educational role that helps employers understand WCB policies and processes. Outside work, Al is a proud theatre/hockey dad who is constantly busy with his two teenage boys, who keep him and his wife busy with various roles as cooks, cheerleaders, bankers, project managers, and shuttle drivers.
