AFFGS 2024-25 Adoption, School, and Learning: What is going on with YOUR child? - Wonderland Child and Family Services
Wonderland Child & Family Services supports children with developmental delays, disabilities, and prenatal substance abuse. They will talk about prenatal exposures to both drugs and alcohol, what to be looking out for as kids get older, and how it affects childrens overall development.
Some experts are suggesting that up to 80% of adopted children experienced some level of prenatal alcohol exposure, and that even a small amount can have lifelong impacts. Unrecognized and untreated symptoms from fetal alcohol spectrum can increase learning struggles, behavior challenges, and make both school and family life extra hard.
We as adoptive parents are educated about the large scale impacts of prenatal exposures. And, if your child is struggling with learning issues or behavior challenges, taking a peek into the subtle effects of mild alcohol exposure may be the key to helping you understand and support your child. Please join us for this important conversation.
