Leif Erikson Lodge 2-001, Sons of Norway, Educational Foundation presents its 21st and last annual Crab feed, silent auction, and dessert auction with dancing to Miles from Chicago, a blues/rock band @Leif Erikson Hall on Saturday, January 25, 2025, 6PM. Menu includes Dungeness crab in shell (with guts removed) or Stuffed Chicken Breast; Baked potato; coleslaw; garlic bread; beverage; and dessert auction! No host bar. Bring your own picks and pliers. The crab feed sold out a week before the event last time so get your tickets early!
Prices are: $30 = Student or Child- One (1) Crab Feed Ticket $65 = Adult - One (1) Crab Feed Ticket $480 = Table for Eight (8 tickets) for the Crab Feed
Please note we will be taking credit card payments for silent auction purchases at the event this year. As usual we will have artwork, beautiful crystal, specialty silver from Scandinavia, vintage toys and comics, incredible unique items, and this year features a mystery box filled with ? but has an amazing value! Our heads and tails game has a prize of $500 to El Gaucho restaurant!

Proceeds benefit the Leif Erikson Lodge 2-001, Sons of Norway, Educational Foundation which supports instructors/counselors at District 2 Youth Camps of Sons of Norway, young leaders in the community, vocational/trade school students, and attendees to District 2 Youth Camps of Sons of Norway.

Leif Erikson Lodge 2-001, Sons of Norway, Educational Foundation announces the following 2025 scholarships. Completed applications, supporting documents, and recommendations must be RECEIVED by Friday, March 29, 2025, to the Leif Erikson Hall office. PLEASE NOTE THE APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED by March 29! One exception is for the the Youth Camp Instructor/Counselor which is due on May 31, 2025. Applications are available at Leif Erikson Hall and on our website under the scholarship tab at: www.leiferiksonlodge.com
*Camp Normanna or Camp Nidaros Endowed LEL Scholarship Award with the Youth Camp Program for District 2, Sons of Norway, provides the recipient with a scholarship for 50% of the fee for the camps. To be eligible for the Camp Award applicant's sponsor must be a member in good standing of Leif Erikson Lodge 2-001, Sons of Norway; be 9 years old before the camp begins and not reach age 13 until after September 1; and must be accepted by Camp Normanna or Camp Nidaros before applying for the Leif Erikson Lodge scholarship. Applicants must also write a short 50-100 words essay explaining why you wish to attend and the essay should include why you have an interest in Scandinavia. Camp Normanna is near Everett, Washington, and Camp Nidaros is near Seaside, Oregon.
*Camp Trollhaugen Endowed LEL Scholarship Award with the Youth Camp Program for District 2, Sons of Norway, provides the recipient with a scholarship for 50% to the fee for the camp. To be eligible for the Camp Trollhaugen Camp Award, the applicant's sponsor must be a member in good standing of Leif Erikson Lodge 2-001, Sons of Norway; be 13 years old before the respective Camp begins and must not reach age 15 until after September 1; be accepted by Camp Trollhaugen before applying for the Leif Erikson Lodge Scholarship. Applicants must also write a short 100-150 word essay as to why you wish to attend camp and this essay should include why you have an interest in Scandinavia.
*Douglas Warne Vocational Scholarship is funded from an endowment established by Past President of Leif Erikson Lodge 2-001, Douglas Warne. An award is given to an eligible person 18-25 years old attending or planning on attending an accredited technical, trade, or vocational program in Washington State. The amount of the award varies from year to year, but is a minimum of $3,000. The check from the Educational Foundation will be made out to the recipient's school in the name of the recipient. Submit an essay, not to exceed 250 words, describing your accomplishments to date; interest in Norwegian/Scandinavian culture or heritage; your involvement in Leif Erikson Lodge 2-001, Sons of Norway, or other Scandinavian/Nordic organization, and community activities; and your educational or career goals.
*Royalty of Queen/King and Princess/Prince Scholarship Program awards two young people who represent the lodge as its Royalty an award of $1500 or $400 respectively. The winners will represent Leif Erikson Lodge 2-001, Sons of Norway, in at least five events of their choosing during the year. To be eligible for the Royalty award the applicant must be a member in good standing of Leif Erikson Lodge 2-001, Sons of Norway; or a relative of a member in good standing and shall not be former Border Festival Royalty. The queen/king applicant must 18 by August 1, 2024, and enrolled or accepted at an accredited college or university. The princess/prince applicant must not be younger than 10 and not older than 18 on the date the award application is submitted. The royalty title is granted only once at each level. Selection is based on academic performance and evidence of ability to succeed; willingness to represent and participate in a variety of events at Leif Erikson Lodge 2-001; letters of recommendation giving specific evidence of good character, accomplishments and abilities. Applicants must complete application form; provide a copy of latest grade transcript; write an essay of 250 words or less; and submit two letters of recommendation.
*Youth Camp Instructor/Counselor Grant for persons who can provide a positive camp experience for young people participating in the District Two Sons of Norway Youth Camp Program. To be eligible for the Youth Camp Instructor/Counselor Award, the applicant must be either: 1) a student who is accepted by or attending an accredited college/university in a Scandinavian Studies Program, OR 2) a student who is accepted by, or is attending any other college/ university program with an interest in Scandinavian heritage and culture, OR 3) any member in good standing of Leif Erikson Lodge 2-001, Sons of Norway, who demonstrates a knowledge or interest in Scandinavian heritage and/or culture. Any student applicants must supply a current transcript; a 200-250 word essay describing your accomplishments to date, involvement in community activities and/or in Sons of Norway, why you have an interest in Scandinavia, and educational or career goals; and be accepted by the District 2 Sons of Norway Youth Camp Program as an Instructor/Counselor. There is $1000 award check per camp with preference being given to applicants participating in at least two camps.
*Youth Leadership Award is for one young person planning on attending an institution of higher learning or trade school. The amount of the award is $1,500. To be eligible for the Youth Leadership Award: the applicant must be a member in good standing of Leif Erikson Lodge 2-001, Sons of Norway; or be a close relative of a member, in good standing; the applicant must be a United States citizen not younger than 18 and not older than 25 on the date the award application is submitted; and the applicant must not have previously received this award. The criteria by which candidates are evaluated includes academic performance and evidence of ability to succeed; willingness to represent and participate in a variety of events at Leif Erikson Lodge 2-001; two letters of recommendation giving specific evidence of good character, accomplishments and abilities and financial need or means tests shall not be considered. Applicants need to submit an essay, not to exceed 250 words, describing your accomplishments to date; your involvement in Leif Erikson Lodge 2-001, Sons of Norway, interest in Scandinavia, youth, community or other activities; and your educational or career goals in addition to filling out an application.
