October Sustainability Gathering: Mending Circle
Come learn basic sewing skills during the Sustainability Gathering workshop on Saturday, October 26th. Have a shirt missing a button or a skirt that has a tear in the seam? After the garden brigade, we will come together for a mending circle to repair clothing and textiles. We'll have lots of supplies and a few sewers on hand to teach basic hand or machine sewing. Don't have something in need of repair? We'll have a simple garden-related sewing machine project for you! The brigade will take place from 10am-12pm, and the free workshop will be led by community members Dan and Rachel from 12-2pm. The event will be held in Winter Park.

Sustainability Gatherings take place on the last Saturday of every month and include a garden brigade in a different host's garden (because many hands make light work), followed by a free workshop led by a community member to grow our collective knowledge about plants, sustainability, food sovereignty, the land, and more. This monthly event is co-hosted by Blue Trunk Community Network and Central Florida Mutual Aid.

Blue Trunk Community Gardens goal is to maintain a sustainable operation by practicing ecological sustainability and providing members of the community  with knowledge of the importance of agriculture, community and trade. "Growing Food and Power Through Sustainable Arts and Culture." https://www.instagram.com/bluetrunkcommunitynetwork/

Central Florida Mutual Aid is a collective of regular folx in Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties practicing mutual aid. We center the voices and needs of those most impacted by systems of oppression. For CFLMA, mutual aid has three crucial elements: collaborating to meet each other's needs, having a shared understanding that the systems we live within are oppressive and not meeting our needs, and working together to strategically address root causes and bring about radical change. https://www.instagram.com/cflmutualaid/
