Palestine Teach-In with Arwa Shurab
Tuesday, July 9, 2024 7:30pm-9:00pm Pacific Time

Join BC Nurses United for Social Justice as we present our third webinar in our series on Palestine: A Teach-In with Arwa Shurab. Arwa's teach-in will cover the history of the Palestinian struggle from the Nakba up to present day, anti-Palestinian racism and Islamophobia.

About the Speaker:
Arwa Shurab is a passionate Palestinian Leadership Consultant and Coach dedicated to empowering individuals and organizations to reach their fullest potential. She is the founder of HERVOICE, an NGO focused on empowering women to have equal opportunities for leadership, representation, and empowerment. Arwa holds a Master's degree in Global Leadership, and is a certified life Coach and Master life Coach. She is an advocate for Palestinian rights and aspirations, and deeply committed to fostering positive change and promoting social justice.

About Donations:
We have included a donation option for this event as the organizers incur out-of-pocket expenses for the Zoom webinar account fee, honorariums to Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers, and gifts for the speakers. Please consider donating to help us cover these expenses. Any funds received above our costs will be donated to an organization benefiting Palestinian people (i.e. UNWRA). As of June 1, our costs currently outweigh our donations by several hundred dollars.

About the Organizers:
This event is organized by BC Nurses United for Social Justice. We are a grassroots, member-organized group of BCNU* members who believe health care workers should play a pivotal role in decolonization and the promotion of social justice from Canada to Palestine. We seek to educate and engage our colleagues to inspire self-reflection and action. Among us are Indigenous and settler nurses living and working on the unceded, occupied, and stolen lands across what is colonially known as British Columbia. To find what territory you are on, please visit: www.whose.land.

*Please Note: Our views are our own and do not represent those of the BC Nurses' Union.
