Call to Conscience 2010: A Celebration of Black History
MUSICA Entertainment HOSTS WASHINGTONâS LARGEST BLACK HISTORY MONTH EVENT: âCALL TO CONSCIENCEâ City of Tacoma Mayor Marilyn Strickland, World renowned âsmooth jazzâ artist Najee, Alex âThe Bushmanâ Kajumulo, civil rights icon Roberto Maestas and philanthropist Mark Bloome are among the luminaries scheduled to speak at this yearâs âCall to Conscienceâ at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma WA, Saturday, Feb. 27.
WHO: MUSICA Entertainment hosts one of the nationâs largest and more provocative celebrations of Black history featuring keynote addresses, power point presentations, panel discussions, exhibits, displays and vendor booths at Pacific Lutheran University 12180 Park Avenue (The University Center Building) in Tacoma, Washington. 98447
WHAT: âCall to Conscience: A Celebration of Black Historyâ brings together renowned celebrities like musician Najee; world activist and musician Alex âThe Bushmanâ Kajumulo, international artist Marita Dingus, the founders of the Seattle Black Panther Party Aaron & Elmer Dixon; radio personality/hip-hop icon Chuck D; international activist, poet and Philanthropist Mark Bloome; radio personality Tony B, northwest civil rights icon Roberto Maestas. This yearâs events include a dinner honoring this years Washington State Elders of Distinction Inductees Dr. Millie Russell, Reverend Samuel McKinney, and Judge Franklin Burgess. Call to Conscience 2010 is a celebration of Black History event, this year examining the impact of the census on African-Americans and all people, also taking a historical look at the âconnectedâ relationship between African Americans and the Jewish community, and âCalling to Conscienceâ health and wellness issues that disproportionately impact African-American communities.

WHY: We convene this yearâs âCall to Conscienceâ event to educate and entertain residents of the state of Washington, to build community, create awareness to issues that impact ALL people, and to remind all Americans about the history and contributions of African Americans to American history. Speakers at âCall to Conscienceâ will challenge Washington State residents and out of town visitors to listen to the âcall of their own consciencesâ and make positive changes in their communities.
