Ballet Balance & Traveling Steps for Belly Dancers - Workshop with Rosa Noreen
Ballet dancers are known for having great balance and lightness on their feet. Learn how to achieve this--and how it is useful to belly dancers!
You will learn: - Traveling steps from ballet that are frequently found in belly dance - How to ready yourself for traveling steps and turns - Balancing technique and tricks - What is turnout and how is it helpful - Upper body carriage--including arm technique--that supports traveling and balance - Corework to power your traveling from your center - Combinations to learn how to transition between steps
Ballet slippers are recommended. Visit Finer Pointes Dance Shop at 49 Dartmouth St to find the right shoe for your foot (usually $15-$25). Socks are OK if necessary. Foot thongs that expose your toes are not sufficient for this workshop.
Please dress in exercise or yoga wear such as leggings/tank top/sports bra/fitted t-shirt. Layers are recommended!
This workshop is open to people of all levels, dance backgrounds, and genders, ages 14+. No ballet experience necessary!
