Praised by The New York Times for his unmistakable virtuosity on the marimba and a wide variety of percussion instruments, Bulgarian-born Svet Stoyanov captivates audiences with his dynamic concerto performances, his riveting recital presentations and the elegance of his chamber music collaborations. Featured on the cover of SYMPHONY Magazines annual Emerging Artists issue, Mr. Stoyanov made appearances in the 2008-09 season performing the Schwantner Percussion Concerto with the Imperial Symphony and Midland Symphony. In addition, he can be heard in recitals in New Jersey, North Carolina, Georgia and throughout New York, including at Performance Space in Brooklyn. In fall 2008, Mr. Stoyanov released his debut recording on the CAG label entitled Percussive Counterpoint, featuring music by Steve Reich, Alejandro Viao, Paul Lansky and others. In 2007-08, Mr. Stoyanov returned to Carnegie Hall for a performance of Phillip Glass Concerto Fantasy for Two Timpanists and Orchestra with the New York Youth Symphony. Mr. Stoyanov was invited to perform as part of a select group called the Zankel Band, for the opening of Carnegie Halls newest space, Zankel Hall. He has also appeared at Carnegie Hall in Pierre Boulezs Le Marteau sans matre with the composer conducting and the Professional Training Workshop Reich on Reich: Steve Reich @ 70.
