The Rural Route Short Film Festival
The Rural Route Film Festival is a traveling festival of short films that highlight issues affecting rural people and places outside the bustle of urban life. On December 16th, Second Act proudly showcases this year's curated selection of 10 exceptional shorts.
This "Best Of/Shorts" lineup brings you "the hits" from this year's Rural Route festival: 10 world class films from 5 different continents, showcasing Rural Route's dedication to 'International films that take the road less traveled.'
This program gives you the best from bigger fests like Sundance, Oscar winners, and films you won't find anywhere else Highlights include a portrait of a young shepherdess from Somaliland, the heartwarming tale of an aging ice merchant in the Ecuadorian Andes, a Hungarian animation winning every award imaginable, a lush sci-fi from one of the "new 25 faces of independent film," an intimate portrait of an elaborate Balinese funeral, a beautifully shot look at the N. Dakota oil boom, a fictitious portrayal of Alan Lomax's musicologist adventures, plus the best of the experimental circuit from unexpected places like an Ohio county fair, a polluted lake in Maine and a grid-lined river in Ontario.
Bay Area Filmmaker J. Christian Jensen (White Earth) will be present for Q & A.
There will also be a discussion of local farming-related issues led by Jered Lawson Co-Founder and Co-Director of Pie Ranch in Pescadero.
The shorts include:
Godka Cirka (A Hole in the Sky) by Alex Lora and Antonio Tibaldi from Somaliland.
