Intro to Dialects: The IPA
Slightly Askew Theatre Ensemble is now offering professional development workshops for the community. Workshops will cover a broad spectrum including: dialects, clowning, audition techniques, dance and Viewpoints.
Intro to Dialects: The IPA The International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) is the cornerstone to learning dialects. An alphabet of sounds, not letters, this approach to dialects breaks words into sounds and can be used to decipher any dialect from domestic to foreign. This is the nuts and bolts way to learn a dialect. If you already have a good ear, learning the IPA will enhance and refine your dialect work. Class will focus on learning the symbol representation for sounds and transcription work using the IPA. Open up the world of dialects by learning the IPA. Instructor: Pamela Reckamp
