Three Wishes Friday - April 2nd, 2010
The Lineup:
ALLYA
Twisted || Cargo || G+G Vancouver, BC www.myspace.com/allyaofficial
New York-born, Dutch and Spanish-blooded, Canadian raised; with a combination like this, itÂÂs no wonder AllyaÂÂs musical taste is as varied as his diverse background. To put things simply, music is his life. He is random, twisted, and always exuberant. A mix of positive attitude, good humor, and his tendency to roll with the punches all combine to make him a force to be reckoned with behind the decks. Anyone who has seen Allya in action can attest to his showmanship, his crazy backstage antics, and his general good nature.
Allya does not limit himself to one genre of music and feels that variety and flexibility are key when playing for a crowd. He is known to mix everything from Trance, Hard Dance, and Hardstyle to Techno, House, and Electro, sometimes adding a splash of Funky Breaks in his sets, often using three-deck mixes, live looping and scratching, and adding accappellas to spice things up a bit to create exclusive sets whose sheer energy cannot be replicated in a studio environment ÂÂ one really must see Allya playing live to appreciate the love this DJ has for his craft, the music, and the crowd.
Notable artists he has opened for include Armin Van Buuren, Paul Van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Markus Schulz, Klaas, Glenn Morrison, Lisa Lashes, Anne Savage, Paul Maddox, Guyver, Andy Whitby, Sophie Sugar, BK, Scot Project, Andy Moor, John ÂÂ00ÂÂ Flemming, Adam Sheridan, Brooklyn Bounce, DJ Mea, and DJ Diamond. Allya has also closed for acts like Technoboy, The Thrillseekers, Johan Gielen, Alphazone, Remo-Con, 4 Strings, Sander Van Doorn, Lee Haslam, Rodi Style, Claudia Cazacu, Miss Lisa, Benny Benassi, Christopher Lawrence, and Eddie Halliwell. People have often wondered why Allya has been the choice opener/closer for so many respected acts. Simply put, he knows how to read a crowd and build a mood of anticipation; or when closing, who else can still keep the party energy going after such great artists as these?
New Years Eve saw him usher in the decade with Trance superstar Ben Gold where the pair played an impromptu versus set to a sold-out crowd. His debut EP, co-written with Tazix and featuring a track with Nick Sentience, recently saw release on Riot! Recordings. With three tracks supported by BK, Scott Attrill, Lisa Lashes, Anne Savage, and others, the future looks bright for this budding talent!
NARAYAN
Knights of the Turntable Los Angeles, CA www.myspace.com/narayan
Narayan was first introduced to the Electronic Dance Music scene back in 2000. While at a small club, a DJ started playing tracks from The Prodigy. Immediately intrigued, Narayan asked the DJ where he could go to listen to more of that type of music. He was given his first flier to an underground rave, where the legendary Frankie Bones was headlining. After experiencing Frankie's set, the amazing people and just the overall vibe of the scene, Narayan knew he wanted to be behind the decks.
In 2002, the fever became too much and Narayan decided to move to Los Angeles to experience a larger scene and to dive deeper into his new-found passion. Later that year he purchased his first set of turntables and fell in love with the feeling of controlling the decks. Over the next few years he collected records and perfected his dj-ing skills to find his own unique sound.
Early 2005, Narayan recorded his first demo mix and handed out hundreds of copies at local L.A. raves. That summer he was booked for his first show and played alongside Techno legend Ron D. Core. He played so well that after that show he was dubbed "L.A.'s best-kept Trance secret!" A secret no more, Narayan has played at nearly all types of events and productions. From Internet programming such as Digitally Imported Radio (di.fm) and his resident show "Station Elation" on Netmix.fm, to mountain and desert raves, wharehouses in downtown and clubs on Hollywood Blvd, to full-on dance music festivals with thousands in attendance. He also currently holds a weekly residency at The VU Ultra Bar in L.A. that he has held since August 2008, which is one of the longest weekly residencies in Los Angeles!
With influences from the early 2000's like Cosmic Gate, Simon Eve, AlphaZone, Organ Donors and Talla 2XLC, current stars such as Sean Tyas, Simon Patterson, Technikal, Alex M.O.R.P.H. and Stoneface & Terminal, ageless all-stars like Tiesto and Paul Van Dyk, and his biggest influence Christopher Lawrence, Narayan has become known for his exciting and energizing blend of Tech-Trance and Hard-Trance. However big the venue, however loud the sound, once Narayan gets behind the decks your feet will start moving and your hands will jump in the air!
