Ramon "Sandy" Garcia Perez, master batalero/conguero and pricipal percussionist for 12 years with Grupo Afro Cuba de Matanzas, is regognized the world over for his expertise as a dynamic performer and instructor. With the root of his technique founded in Afro Cuban folk music, Sandy's open minded approach has enabled him to play everything from Salsa and Fusion to Avante-Garde Jazz. Sandy is one of the best known and most talented percussionists in the world. Since his days with Grupo Afro Cuba he has performed and recorded with many internationally acclaimed and Grammy nominated artists such as Steve Coleman and Yosvany Terri.
