Jen Durkin & The Business, Disable Time
Jen "Pipes" Durkin got her name as founding member of Deep Banana Blackout a funk rock jam band that toured Nationally for 5 years in the late 90s. On the road Jen sat in with P Funk, Gov't Mule, Karl Denson and Melvin Sparks to name a few. Pipes joined Funkadelic Bernie Worrell for 2 years in the "Woo Warriors" as lead singer while she also fronted 2 New York City Bands "The Conscious Underground" and "The Bomb Squad". After winning an American Music Award in 2003, Jen became a vocal coach and music educator developing songwriting classes and leading summer rock camps. As single Mother of 2 children, she thought it might be time to settle down but a call from Mickey Hart to tour with the "Rhythm Devils" with Bill Kreutzman, Steve Kimmock, Mike Gordon and Sikiru Adjepoju quickly changed her plans. The release of a live DVD with Rhythm Devils lead to more work in Mickey Hart Band with George Porter Jr, and Walfredo Reyes Jr. In 2009, she co wrote and produced "Equinox" CD before relocating to Arizona to be near her family. Now, 5 years later, Jen returns with brand new music and a band that has already garnered a reputation as "The Business" with brother Johnny Durkin DBB drummer/percussionist. Jen Durkin & the Business is comprised of Darian Cunning on guitar, Rich Zurkowski on bass, Jesse Gibbon on keys and brother Johnny Durkin on the drums.
