SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT + secret bonus feature!
It's Christmas time again. Time to spread good cheer help others... and watch countless hours of senseless violence! Or at least that's the aim of lowculture's NIGHT TERRORS screening series as it returns to PhilaMOCA on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, for another evening of double-feature insanity when it screens SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT (1984) and a second secret film.
SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT is the touching story of a young boy whose faith in good ol' Saint Nick is put to the test when he experiences a traumatic event on Christmas Eve. Years later, he's forced to confront this issue head-on and face the reality that there might just be a little bit of Santa in all of us. In the vein of heart-warming Christmas classics like MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET (1947) and FIRST BLOOD (1982), SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT is a piece of holiday joy that seeks to find in us the better angels of our nature. Through axes-to-the-head and antler-stabbings. Join lowculture and PhilaMOCA as they celebrate Christmas in all its depressing, awful glory. Watch as Santa carves his way through soft, young flesh. Find out who's been naughty and who's been nice.
NIGHT TERRORS is a recurring monthly series of double-features taking place the third Wednesday of every month. Established as a co-production between PhilaMOCA and lowculture, the series intends to highlight the strange and disturbing, with a primary focus on low-budget trash cinema of the 1980s and 1990s. In the coming months NIGHT TERRORS will cover everything from gory no-budget horror freakshows to hyper-violent action-schlock and everything in-between in an attempt to establish thematic links between the seemingly contradictory and the occasionally obvious.
