Kung Pao Kosher Comedy and El Rio Present... Comedy Returns to El Rio!
Now in its 6th year, this monthly (every 3rd Thursday) comedy show features an eclectic, multicultural mix of comedians. A Kung Pao Kosher Comedy and El Rio production. MC'ed by Kung Pao's Lisa Geduldig.
This month's comedians: Joe Klocek, Jabari Davis, Yuri Kagan, Lisa Geduldig AND 2 very special surprise guests
Bios: Joe Klocek does two things great: tells stories and talks to the crowd. He just returned from a two month "comic in residency" at the first comedy club in Shanghai, China where he recorded an album exclusively for the expat community living and laughing there. Joe was recently featured on NPR's "Snap Judgment" and has also appeared on Comedy Central's "Live at Gotham," NBC's "Last Comic Standing," and was commentator for the Emmy award-winning documentary "A Bridge so Far." Co-creator of the critically acclaimed storytelling show "Previously Secret Information," Joe has also been a runner-up in the San Francisco International Comedy Competition and the "Seattle Comedy Competition. Voted "Best Comic" in the 2011 SF Weekly Readers Poll. Joe has performed at every major comedy club in the country including Alaska and is a regular on the Bay Area comedy scene. He is a square peg in a round hole sort of guy. Raised a Midwesterner, so he has manners, but living in San Francisco for 20 years, so he thinks he's better than you.
Jabari Davis has taken the San Francisco Comedy community by storm with humor that combines "down and dirty street smarts" with thought-provoking intellect. With a style that interweaves true-life failures backed by undeniable logic, his comedic dialogue transcends not only cultural barriers, but social classes as well. Jabari has performed in some of the nation's biggest comedy clubs including The Comedy Store (Hollywood, La Jolla), The Ice House Comedy Club (Pasadena), San Francisco and Sacramento Punchline, Cobb's Comedy Club, Carolines on Broadway (New York), and Gotham Comedy Club (New York). In 2010 he debuted his one-man solo performance piece "Felony Swagger with A Degree" in the San Francisco Theater Festival to rave reviews. He was invited back in 2011 to perform another solo performance piece, both of which were directed by W. Kamau Bell of FX's "Totally Biased." In 2011 and 2012, Jabari was selected to perform in at Comedy Day in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. He has also performed on Charlie Murphy's Acid Trip Tour and In the Cape Fear Comedy Festival 2013 in Wilmington, North Carolina. www.jabaridavis.com
Yuri Kagan is a nice Jewish boy or at least that's what it says on the JDate profile his mother created for him. He grew up in San Diego where he learned that while other people tan, he ignites. He moved to San Francisco to get a degree in bad habits and telling jokes. Yuri is a dry humor, observational, deadpan comedian who talks about growing up with an entire family from the Soviet Union without holding anything back. He has been profiled in SFWeekly and the Vallejo Daily Republic. He performs all over the country on any stage that will let him. He has also received much acclaim for his blog. Lisa Geduldig is a local comic and comedy producer who's the creator, producer, and MC of a variety of comedy shows including Kung Pao Kosher Comedy (now in its 22nd year); Funny Girlz: A Smorgasbord of Women Comedians; The Color of Funny: A Multi-Cultural Comedy Show; and A Muslim, A Mormon, and A Jew Walk into A Bar: The Comedy of Religion.
