African Master Drummer - WADABA! In Concert
Explosive! Wadaba, the 'Great Panther of Guinea', together with his full ensemble of skilled local drummers and dancers, finally performs at the Rogue! Wadaba is an exciting world-class authentic true Master of the djembe drum. Village-raised in sub-Saharan Africa, and apprenticed with the great master, Famoudou Konate, he is now a local gem residing in Tulare County, and we are truly blessed to have him.
Wadaba embodies and channels the best of the roots of rhythm from the Motherland! Energizing, healing, transforming, and inspiring, many say the drumming has opened their hearts and saved their lives.
Wadaba archives and preserves historic Mandeng rhythms in his 2 CDs recorded in his village. His 2nd CD won Finalist for Best World Music album in the 2008 IMAs (Independent Music Awards). He toured Japan and Europe with Mamady Keitas Mogobalu, and leads African Village Drum Adventures for folks to tour Guinea. He is administrator of the Oroko Fund, a charity since 2001 to help his village.
Wadaba and his wife, Keio Ogawa, teach authentic West African drum arrangements in Visalia, CA. For more information and booking, call 559-561-6556
