Joey Pipia's HeadTrip
Expect the unexpected in HeadTrip, a one-act journey through the depths of the mind, playing one night only, December 6th at 8 pm at The Chameleon Theater. Think again, and even then, Joey Pipia can say what's on your mind. But don't worry, he knows better then to "read and tell."
"In HeadTrip, what you see is more than magic," says Pipia, explaining further, "magic inevitably involves physical change. A thing changes color. A thing that is broken becomes restored. A thing that exists then ceases to exist.
In HeadTrip, only one thing will change; your mind, and the journey happens within.
"The human mind is the original greatest show on earth," says Pipia, whose intimate magic show, The Magic Chamber enjoyed a yearlong, sold out run here in Port Townsend. Joey toured that show throughout the Pacific Northwest, culminating in a three week run at Seattle's Intiman Theatre.
Pipia is a central performer, writer, and producer of the legendary Stage Left Vaudeville Show at the Oregon Country Fair. His escape from a straightjacket while hanging 80 feet above Water Street in downtown Port Townsend was featured on Seattle NPR's KUOW Presents, he performs at the international Moisture Festival, and tours regularly with The New Old Time Chautauqua and The Flying Karamazov Brothers. He has appeared in film, on TV, and on stages across the country.
Joey Pipia will be joined in HeadTrip by special guest and real-life daughter, Phina Pipia. Audiences across the country have been wowed by Ms. Pipia's amazing mindreading skills and compelling stage presence. Best known in Port Townsend for her work with musical duo The Pipia Sisters, and with theater company, Generation Goat Rocket, Phina Pipia's refreshing stage appearances are sure-fire fun for audiences of all ages.
The two performers will present two effects straight out of classic vaudeville mind theater, While the Pipias have toured extensively with these two works, this show marks their Port Townsend debut.
