Collage New Music: Winter Concert
Sunday, January 18, 8pm 7 pm: Pre-concert conversation with the composers and conductor
Edward Pickman Concert Hall, Longy School of Music, 27 Garden Street, Cambridge, MAwww.longy.edu
The CNM winter concert on January 18 sails from the whacky duet for violin and piano, The Firehose Reel, by Michigan's Evan Chambers, to the whimsical and touching Light Dances of North Carolina's Stephen Jaffe. Between these upbeat creations, wide-eyed and probing music carries us deeperMario Davidovsky's icy-hot Flashbacks, English composer Nicola LeFanu's evocation of Ireland's magical Roundstone Bog and Connemara Coast, and Chicago composer, painter and sculptor Kyong Mee Choi's heartfelt remembrance of the victims of the 2012 killings at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
