ANDRA SUCHY * NICK AFRICANO
About Andra:
North Dakota native Andra Suchy has released her debut studio recording for Red House Records, the stunning prairie-inspired roots album, Little Heart.
A frequent guest on the national radio show A Prairie Home Companion, Andra has made a name for herself as a versatile vocalist who has performed around the world, singing with country stars Brad Paisley and Emmylou Harris as well as blues/rock artist Jonny Lang and noted soprano Renee Fleming. Showcasing her soulful vocals and infectious melodies, Andra's new solo album is a tasty mix of twang-tinged country, rock, folk and blues.
Her CD is a dazzling collection of radio-friendly songs, including the prairie country tune "Little Heart" and the pop gem "90 MPH," which is sure to be a hit on AAA radio. In addition to these standout originals, Andra does a moving version of Neil Young's "Helpless," along with a heartfelt cover of her father's song "Georgianna."
Full of great hooks and masterful playing, the songs on Little Heart are likely to be big favorites on country, Americana and roots radio.
About Nick:
A son of the moon. A butterfly bull. Nick Africano is a songwriter, poet, multi-intrumentalist, band-leader, solo performer, producer, and experiments with watercolors. His style defies the confines of genre, and lives in the mysterious space of rock and roll, storytelling, and folk music. In an ether of contradiction. Lyrics often softly spoken, or soulfully crooned. At once powerful and subtle. His live performances are captivating and spontaneous, moving between acoustic guitar, resonator guitar, and piano.
A relentless performer, Africano has toured the US extensively, and in 2012 / 2013 began to break into European markets, touring in England and Switzerland. He currently performs a monthly late-night series at the acclaimed Rockwood Music Hall in New York City when not on the road.
Over the past years he has recorded 2 independently produced LPs including I've Ever Desired (2008) The Butterfly Bull (2012) and one EPBroken (2005) and is currently gearing up to release his first all-analog LP (untitled) recorded at Galuminum Foil Studio in Brooklyn, NY.
In addition to producing his own work, Africano is credited with helping produce Marmalade (2007) with his good friend,Pokey Lafarge.
In 2012 Africano's songs were included in the film, Four Corners Road, which was featured in the Manhattan Film Festival and the Hoboken Film Festival.
Most recently Africano worked as Musical Director for Les Foules'production of William Shakespeare's Cymbeline in London, England. Here he also made his acting debut.
