Goodsoul Christmas Party - with Black Market Karma, Purple Heart Parade & Tess Parks
We've got an absolute belter of a night planned for you lovely lot!
Headlining we are thrilled to welcome back the London based 6 piece Black Market Karma! Their music covers a range of textures and sounds, taking influence from the 1960's psychedeIic and garage movements, with bands such as The Velvet Underground, The Beatles (Revolver, Magical Mystery Tour) to the neo psychedelic music of the 80's & 90's with bands like Jesus & Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine, Spacemen 3, Brian Jonestown Massacre etc. their live shows inevitably turn into a celebration of music and energy that are NOT to be missed!
Purple Heart Parade are like minded stargazers from Manchester who formed in late 2012. Their brand of Shoegaze/Psych/Fuzz Rock has won them many plaudits since the bands birth.
With a growing number of very impressive gigs under their belt, a headline slot at the first ever Glasgow Psych Fest, an exceptional set at Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia and notable support slots with the likes of Puressence, Exit Calm, The Lucid Dream, The Telescopes, The Vacant Lots, The Wands and Six By Seven, as well as appearing at last years Ramsbottom Festival, featuring the likes of I am Kloot, Richard Hawley and Sinead O'Connor. And this off the back of just one track released and their reputation for a completely mesmerising live show the Cosmic Love is rapidly spreading! We had the pleasure of having them play for us already, and it was very special indeed!
Opening the night we have the absolute pleasure to bring you Tess Parks!
Tess was born and raised in Toronto but moved to London at seventeen to pursue music and to study photography. She has played solo for the past four years. Having moved back to Toronto in 2012, she put together her amazing psychedelic backing band of "sexy and talented musicians", The Good People. Early in 2013, she self-released a very popular EP 'Work All Day/Up All Night' Tess describes her songs as "lo-fi alternative drones with a hypnotic vibe". Influences include Elliott Smith, friends the Dandy Warhols and all the classics: "I was brought up on Bob Dylan, Nirvana, The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Zeppelin." She met Alan McGee in London. "We stayed in touch, that was it really. I just got so lucky. I love Oasis, Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine He's affiliated with all of my favourite musicians." Tess recorded her album of scuzzy, downbeat psychedelia - Blood Hot - (think Mazzy Star crossed with The Brian Jonestown Massacre) across the summer of 2013 and it was pre-empted by the release of her debut single proper 'Somedays'.
Spending a lot of 2014 playing the album live across the country, Tess has built up a reputation as a superb live performer, and is certainly a wonderful addition to our Christmas festivities! .
With a Goodsoul DJ set before and between, and a guest DJ set after, this is the party not to be missed!
