Opus 7 Vocal Ensemble performs
Musicians over the centuries have created some of the most extraordinary music ever written for the season of Lent. Opus 7s next concert features music spanning six centuries from some of the greatest and well-known European and American choral composers including Howells, Parry, Gesualdo, Georg Schumann and Pizzetti; a set of pieces by 18th-c. composer Gottfried Homilius; Northwest composers John Muehleisen and Bern Herbolsheimer; and the North American premiere of Lord, is it I? by Grayston (Bill) Ives, a former member of the Kings Singers. Hear the music unfold from the drama of the full choir and organ to a solitary voice pleading for mercy. Experience the simplicity and inner reflection following the storm; the rebirth, the turning back to God - a musical journey through Lent.
Opus 7 was formed by Loren Pontn in 1992 and features some of the Northwest's finest choral artists. The group is known for its glorious sound, ardent musicality, and innovative programming of late 19th-, 20th-, and 21st-century choral repertoire.
