Wild Foraged New Year
The Chinese New Year is upon us. In a few weeks the world will witness a mass migration, literally billions of Chinese will be heading home for the holidays, for traditional meals with their families; filled with recipes passed down through the generations
We figure that's something to celebrate, so we've organized our own celebration, Wild Kitchen style.
Each course has symbolism, with the shape, texture, or taste translating into good luck, prosperity, or happiness in the year ahead.
We invite you to a seven course meal, with each course focused on displaying several sustainably foraged local wild ingredients.
The Wild Kitchen is a rambling dinner of wild foraged food, with each course focusing on several wild ingredients. What does that mean? Wild means uncultivated. Human hands have never touched this food until the day of its harvest. We mean to educate people about the amazing abundance of wild edibles in our area, while connecting them with their fellow eaters.
Everyone eats at the same time, and as much as possible, they all sit at the same table. Learn from the forager about the wild ingredients in your dishes, where they came from and why they're great. Sit together, eat together, talk together.
