Oyster Club Event #6: Fall in Love with Forklift at Casa Neverlandia!
On Sunday February 14, 2010 at 2pm, we invite you to spend the afternoon at Casa Neverlandia with Austin's most exciting dance company, Forklift Danceworks. Forklift Founder and Artistic Director Allison Orr, with help from her collaborators, will guide you through the world of Forklift Danceworks, describing past projects and screening 9 minutes of the documentary film about their highly acclaimed recent work, "Trash Project." And then, afternoon tea and pastries featuring Celina Jean's FoodSmarty delectable delights will be served as Kay Pils and Talbot tell us the story of their legendary home, Casa Neverlandia.

ABOUT FORKLIFT DANCEWORKS Founded in 2001 by Artistic Director Allison Orr, Austin-based Forklift Danceworks creates dances with all kinds of people. Using the movement that people perform in their everyday lives as choreographic material, Forklift Danceworks creates dances with professional dancers and people entirely new to dance. Past company productions have included Venetian gondoliers, City of Austin firefighters, Elvis impersonators, people who are visually impaired, and women over 65. Their newest work, Project Forklift, will feature new dances commissioned by Forklift from six local choreographers, and will run February 12 - 21, 2010 at The Off Center. Click here for tickets and more information about this show.

ABOUT CASA NEVERLANDIA Architect-designer James Talbot ("Talbot"), and artist Kay Pils purchased and remodeled this amazing downtown Austin home, described in Natural Home Magazine as "a colorful, undulating wonderland outfitted with solar panels, rainwater collection, fire poles, an elevated footbridge, talk tubes, nooks, and hideaways that is as much a nod to Dr. Seuss and Peter Pan as it is to Buckminster Fuller and Spanish architect Antoni Gaud." Kay and Talbot suggest a $10 donation from those who can afford it to help them cover the costs of regularly opening their home to curious Austinites for guided tours.
