China's impressive economic expansion and increasingly visible involvement in global issues has made it a country to focus on. Come join us for an informative evening Professor Tom Gold as he examines the economic, social, and environmental forces that he believes will shape China in the next decade. Tom Gold is Professor of Sociology at Cal where he has taught since 1981. He is also the Executive Director of the Inter-University Program for Chinese Language Studies and the founding director of the Berkeley-China Initiative.

All proceeds benefit scholarships granted by the California Alumni Association - Chinese Chapter.
ABOUT THE CAA-CHINESE CHAPTER: Since it's founding in 1933, the California Alumni Association Chinese Chapter has been committed to serving the alumni and advancing the welfare of U.C. Berkeley through worthwhile projects like contributing $500,000 towards the construction of the C.V. Starr East Asian Library and the provision of over 20 scholarships and endowments annually to deserving U.C. Berkeley students.
