Festival Selections
MERTON OF THE MOVIES A naive store clerk arrives in Hollywood during the rollicking era of silent movies determined to be a serious dramatic actor. But an ambitious starlet and a conniving director hoodwink the lad into unwittingly becoming the newest Comedy Box Office Sensation!
PRIDE AND PREJUDICE In this musical adaptation, the characters of Jane Austin and her sister Cassandra re-read the story that will form the basis of her great novel of 18th Century life and manners, the characters come to life in the sisters' imaginations.
UNDER FIRE based on the political thriller of the same name starring Nick Nolte, Gene Hackman and Joanna Cassidy, the musical takes place in the late 1970's in Central America and concerns the difficult choices journalists of integrity face when covering the insanities of wartime.
Philadelphia / MainStreet Festival of New Musicals Philadelphia To Launch MainStreet Festival next Spring While Philadelphia is a mere two hours away from New York City, it has its own vibrant theatre arts scene, with award-winning theatre, and more and more emerging artists looking to train and to make their creative home here.
Main Street Musicals - Philadelphia has a two-fold mission:
To provide a platform for new works to be seen and appreciated by local audiences To partner with the city's vibrant local Universities to create unique educational opportunities. Musical theatre students-in-training will have the opportunity to play an active role working alongside local professionals in the development of new works. By doing this we hope to not only develop and promote these new works, but to continue to develop a new generation of theatre artists who will play a role in creating the next generation of new works.
We hope you'll join us on this journey.
