AN AMERICAN PORTRAIT
Whidbey Island's own Saratoga Chamber Orchestra is pleased to announce their next set of concerts, "AN AMERICAN PORTRAIT", on Monday, February 15 in Oak Harbor and Tuesday, February 16th in Langley, starting at 7:00 pm. The SCO, now in their third season under the artistic direction of conductor Legh W. Burns, will be performing a program of American composers.
Whidbey resident, David Ossman, will be featured as narrator in Aaron Copland's LINCOLN PORTRAIT. Renowned for his work as a member of the comedy quartet, Firesign Theater, and his contributions over the years to National Public Radio and American Public Radio, Mr. Ossman will be bringing to life the words of President Abraham Lincoln as set to Copland's reverent score. The program also includes the rousing AMERICAN SALUTE by Morton Gould, William Schuman's NEW ENGLAND TRIPTYCH based on early American themes and the stirring ADAGIO FOR STRINGS, Op. 11 by Samuel Barber. These concerts are generously sponsored in part by Whidbey Marketplace & News.
Concerts will be held February 15th at Oak Harbor High School and February 16th at South Whidbey High School in Langley. Both start at 7:00 pm.
