T A N Z  S E R I E S // mouth to mouth

PERFORMANCES
Thurs-Sat Dec. 9-11 at 8pm

"In mouth to mouth Agami has woven together a disarming and beautifully crafted flow of ensembles small and large, as well as solo turns for several company dancers. She knows how to spread the wealth around and embrace the unique abilities of the dancers, including herself. While the movement can at times astonish you it also plays with an equal hand to subtle gestures and quiet pools of repose as in the opening which, in its length, somehow elevates silence to a near fearsome audibility."

Choreographer Danielle Agami was born in Israel, and studied at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance High School. Agami was a member of the Batsheva Dance Company from 2002-2010. Between 2007-2009, Agami served as the Artistic Director of Batsheva Dancers Create and functioned as the company's rehearsal director from 2008-2010, during which she received the Yair Shapira Prize for Excellence in Dance in 2009.

After 8 years with Batsheva, Agami relocated to New York to function as Senior Manager of Gaga U.S.A. Since arriving in the U.S., she created original work at Rutgers University (NJ), Boston Conservatory (MA), Springboard Montreal, Cornish College for the Arts (WA) and more. After relocating to Seattle, Agami founded Ate9 as a discovery of her artistic voice as a dancer, choreographer, and teacher. In 2012 Agami created Sally meets Stu and Sheila for Ate9. In 2013, Agami presented TacTics in L.A., Shula for the Batsheva Ensemble in Israel, This Time Tomorrow for Northwest Dance Project and Invisible Cities for The Industry Opera and L.A. Dance Project.
!For years, Danielle has traveled the world as an ambassador of Ohad Naharin. Recently, she staged his work for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ballet Atlanta, Ita Dansa/Barcelona, The Juilliard School and more. Agami and Naharin see a future of collaboration - maintaining their friendship and sharing their knowledge and art.

ABOUT Ate9
Ate9 comes together to foster new and promising artists who are committed to a longer journey of research to master their craft. Artistic Director, Danielle Agami creates a range of work that explores the juxtaposition of subtlety and extreme physicality to find what is honest and human. Her work is accessible, yet thought provoking to audiences of all ages and backgrounds. As a company, Ate9 finds it essential to allow one to visit them in their studio, take their class, dialogue, and get closer so one can discover the joy that dance can bring. In addition, Agami and dancers dedicate time and effort to bring dance to the public education system, creating a meaningful meeting between young audiences and contemporary art.
