Theatre at Granite Bay's Actors Studio
A fantastic opportunity for high school and college students with a passion for acting, directing and theatre arts!
Experience a full day of workshops with professional actors in the film and theatre industry. For $50, you get seven 50-minute workshops with nine different actors and directors, as well as lunch and snacks throughout the day. Check-In is from 8:30 to 9:00am, and the day will wrap up around 5:00pm.

Having an audition monologue and song prepared is not required, but will help enhance the experience. Please wear comfortable clothes you can move in.

Meet the instructors:
Workshop: How to Act and Sing AT THE SAME TIME!
Instructors: Laura Hall and David Taylor
Laura made her Broadway debut in Frank Wildhorn's Wonderland.  Regionally, she's been seen as Mary in Mary Poppins and the Woman in 39 Steps at Weathervane Theatre, Something's Afoot and A Christmas Carol at Pioneer Theatre Company, Marvelous Wonderettes at the Gem Theatre, Urban Cowboy at Gateway Playhouse, Junie B. Jones with Theatreworks USA, and performances with the Cincinnati Pops.  Laura also tours nationally and internationally with the musical theatre sketch comedy group The Water Coolers.  BFA from CCM.  Learn more about Laura at laurahall.info.

David Taylor is a California native, growing up in the Sierra-Nevada foothills. He began musical training at age four, studying classical piano. He continued his musical studies with traditional organ and orchestra. He trained in the classical and Speech level singing styles, leading him to compete in Season 11 of American Idol (top 200) and perform as a featured soloist in the National premier cast of Chess: in Concert (directed by Danny Gurwin). He currently resides in Sacramento teaching piano and voice privately, as well as musically directing for various theatre companies. He is currently the musical director for Granite Bay High School's theatre arts program. In addition to teaching, David performs with the Sammie award winning alternative rock band Autumn Sky. David is an Elly award winning actor, and Arty award winning musical director.

Workshop: Audition for the Camera Like a Pro
Instructors: Mikie Beatty and Marisa Persson
Marisa was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ where she signed with Arizona's top agency, Leighton Agency at the age of four. She booked over 30 commercials, print ads, and voice-over commercials. She currently lives in Los Angeles and loves it. She has been studying with Brad Greenquist (Acting in Front of the Camera), Chris Game, and Dallas Travers for marketing. She has starred in several indie films and series that are circulating in the film festival circuit, as well as a supporting role in the TV movie "Defending Santa," starring Dean Cain last Christmas. She is the co-creator of the web series "The Ladies Room" and the co-founder of Will Play for Food Theater Group. She has most recently been in national commercials for Ask.com & AT&T U-verse.

Mikie comes from a small town at the base of the Sierra Nevadas in northern California. He took up acting professionally after graduating from University of California, Santa Cruz with a degree in classical Acting (and Anthropology) then interning with the renowned Shakespeare Santa Cruz. Now in Los Angeles, he has trained at the Ivana Chubbuck Studio for scene study, with Brad Greenquist for camera technique, and Killian Mchugh & Chris Game for commercials and auditioning. On stage he was awarded the Broadway World Los Angeles' Best Actor in a Play Award in 2010 for originating the role of "Musician" in ELEVATOR, and helped win the inaugural Theatre Unleashed Award in 2011 for Spring Awakening and in 2013 for It's Important to Leave, As Well. Many of you will recognize Mikie from Disney's "Disney 365."

Workshop: Commedia Dell'Arte  Theatrical Physical Comedy
Instructor: Jamie Van Camp
Currently a director for Falcon's Eye Theatre at Folsom Lake College, Jamie recognized as a successful community organizer and educator. He holds a Master of Fine Arts Equivalency (AEAP) in Ensemble Based Physical Theatre from Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theatre. As a theatre actor, director, and writer with over 13 years of applied experience, Jamie is especially skilled at devising plays with ensemble, working in collaboration with non-theatre artists, acrobatics and movement training in addition to special skills in play, game, improvisation and comedy.

Workshop: So You Think You Can Do A Dance Audition (For A Musical)?"
Instructor: Beverly Stewart
Beverly started dancing at the age of three. She has had training in ballet, tap, jazz, musical theater, ballroom dance, gymnastics, and singing. She studied at the Orange County Ballet Company, the National Ballet School of Canada, and Broadway Dance Center in New York. At the age of seventeen, she started working for Royal Cruise Line as a lead dancer, company manager, and vocal soloist in the Broadway revue shows. She has worked in Los Angeles, New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, as well as on a national tour performing in shows such as "42nd Street", "George M!", "Hello Dolly", "Cinderella", and "No, No, Nanette", as well as Best of Broadway here in Sacramento She also worked for Disney Special Events Company for three years. Beverly has been teaching dance for over 15 years. She enjoys being a wife and mother most of all!

Workshop: Alternate Interpretations of Text and Directing (a la Shakespeare)
Instructor: Spencer Williams
Spencer has a degree with Honors in Direction from UC Irvine where he studied under Keith Fowler and Bill Rauch (artistic director of Oregon Shakespeare Festival). He has independently directed, produced and worked in numerous feature films, TV, music videos (with the band Milo Greene for Warner Records)--and has mounted two successful productions of "immersive theatre"  The Deadly Harvest a production of Titus Andronicus in Sacramento, CA and Walk the Night, a production of Hamlet in Nebraska, Omaha.

Workshop: Character Analysis, Beats & Intentions
Instructor: Erin Dealey
Erin is a credentialed theater teacher/director with decades of experience--and has lived to tell about it. Credits include: Lenaea Festival adjudicator, Sacramento Theater Company (Education outreach), as well as the upcoming El Dorado High School production of As You Like It (Spring 2015). In the summer, she heads the theater department of Sugarloaf Fine Arts Camp, sponsored by the El Dorado County Office of Education. Character analysis is also a key component in her other career as a published children's author. (Warning: She is currently finishing a Young Adult novel set in the theater department of a high school. Be careful--you may end up in her novel...)  

Workshop: Auditioning for Disney
Instructor: Shelby Wulfert
Shelby is an actor, singer and voice over artist. Born in the San Francisco Bay Area, Shelby pursued her passion for the arts at an early age - studying dancing, singing and acting up until graduating high school. Before moving to Hollywood at the age of 18, this fresh-faced teenager was starring in musicals and stage productions at her high school and local theatres. During school, she broadened her experience off-stage, doing voiceover work and acting in commercials. She also brushed up on her screen presence, handling celebrity interviews for movie press junkets for the light entertainment program "Mark at the Movies" (Reelz). At age 19, Shelby landed her career break through in special effects magic when she joined the Disney family as one third of the team of actresses that bring the twin characters to life in the hit teen series, "Liv and Maddie" (Disney). Along with star Dove Cameron, Wulfert doubles the role of Maddie, a tomboyish identical twin who clashes with her famous twin sister Liv.
