Beckett in Winter
"Beckett in Winter" is the first of Custom Mades workshop series. Featuring Beckett classics "Krapp's Last Tape" and "Ohio Impromptu", along with the lesser known "Catastrophe" (dedicated to Vaclav Havel, its one of Beckett's most outwardly political plays") this short evening of even shorter plays promises to be poetic and thrilling.
Both "Ohio Impromptu" and "Krapp's Last Tape" offer us, in true Beckett form, a glimpse at the precarious nature of life's final moments, of the mind's inner dialogue when facing the shadow of the journeys end. In "Catastrophe", Beckett treats us to a darkly comic take on life in the theatre. San Francisco actors, Jack Halton and Richard Wenzel, bring extraordinary life to Becketts poetry and wit.
The Custom Made Theatre Company was founded in Boston, Massachusetts in 1996 and relocated to the Bay Area in 1998 where it has produced such sold out and critically acclaimed productions as Bertolt Brechts "The Exception and the Rule", Peter Schaffer's "Equus", Wendy Wasserstein's "The Heidi Chronicles", the Bay Area premiere of Mark Eismans "Shove", the world premiere of Scott Sublet's musical comedy "Bye-bye, bin Laden" (named a Best Premiere by the Bay Guardian), Elie Wiesel's "The Trial of God", and Vaclav Havel's "Temptation".
Beckett in Winter runs Friday, January 12, 2007 through Saturday, January 27, 2007. Performances are Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 p.m.
