The Steve Grover Quintet
Steve Grover, drums: Steve has led jazz groups in the New England area since the mid 1980's. A Maine native, he teaches at The University of Maine at Augusta (where he received his degree in music), Bowdoin College and Bates College. Steve was a faculty member of The Maine Jazz Camp from 1984-97, and was director from 1992-94. In 1994, Steve won the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz/BMI Jazz Composers Competition, and in 1996 was a winner in JAZZIZ  Magazine's "Percussion On Fire" talent search. He received an honorable mention in the 2004 Billboard Song Contest, and his composition "Breath" (from the album of the same name) was featured that same year on NPR's "All Songs Considered". In 2008 Steve's original composition "Art Advocate" was chosen as the theme song for the MPBN program "Conversations With Maine".  Steve's group won "Best Jazz Act of 2009" in The Portland Phoenix Best Music Poll, and was voted one of the "Ten Most Influential Bands of the Last Ten Years" by The Phoenix that same year.

Steve has released ten CDs, with reviews appearing in Down Beat, JazzTimes, and Cadence magazines.  "The Garden Above", a collaborative CD with saxophonist David Wells and guitarist Tony Gaboury, was included in The Portland Phoenix Top Ten CDs of 2006, and "Statement" was in the Top Ten CDs of 2010. His latest CD is "Haiku", featuring a stellar New York quartet, and was awarded an Arts Visibility Grant by The Maine Arts Commission,  In addition to performing with his own groups, Steve has performed in concert with Buddy Tate, Jay McShann, Eddie Gomez, Chris Potter, Marvin Stamm, Greg Tardy, Jerry Bergonzi, George Garzone, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Brad Terry and many others. Steve lives in Farmingdale, ME.

Tony Gaboury, guitar: Tony holds his Master's degree in Performance from Goddard College, and currently teaches at The Berklee College of Music. He has performed with many outstanding artists, including George Garzone, Mick Goodrick, Bruce Saunders, and many others. Tony's latest CD is entitled "Empathy" on the Invisible Music label. Tony lives in Portland, ME

Chris Van Voorst Van Beest, bass: Chris is currently making a name for himself as one of the finest jazz bassists on the New York City jazz scene. A graduate of the University of New Hampshire, Chris taught at the University of Maine @ Augusta from 1997 - 2002. He has performed with Clark Terry, Chris Potter, Louis Bellson, Danilo Perez, Brad Terry, and many others. Chris resides in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Blake Hawley: Guitarist and composer Blake Hawley recently graduated from the well-known jazz program at McGill University. He is quickly becoming an in-demand sideman and bandleader in Montreal, where he resides.

Duncan Hardy, alto saxophone: Duncan is a graduate of the highly regarded SUNY Purchase Jazz Studies program, and is currently teaching at The Waynflete School in Portland. Duncan is also involved in the study and performance of East Indian classical music as well as being an accomplished jazz saxophonist. He lives in Portland, ME.
