GK and the Right of Way with Gunther Brown
Both as a solo artist and as the front man of Dark Hollow Bottling Company for the past 10 years Greg Klein has been a fixture in the Maine music scene. Klein's new project, GK and the Right of Way blends rock, pop, folk and roots music. GKROW plays lyrically driven songs that tell tales of love, loss, family, hopes and dreams. The band is rounded out by Drew Wyman on bass, Chris Wilkes on drums and John Clavette on Keyboards and guitar. GKROW released their first album, "Watching in My Mind" in September 2014 And has spent a few weeks in the top ten local sales at Bull Moose. The album was recorded at Acadia Recording Company in Portland Maine, and was produced by Todd Hutchisen and mastered by Pat Keane.
"A realness of his character is explicit and believable" Kristen Dicara-McClellan of the Portland Press Herald
"Klein writes songs that are easy to quote in paragraphs, with phrases that hold your attention" Sam Pfeifle of the Portland Phoenix
*****
Gunther Brown is a four piece Americana band from Portland, Maine. Of their new new album, The Portland Phoenix said, Good Nights for Daydreams is "the most sorrowful local record since Ray Lamontagne's 'Till the Sun Turns Black'". In predicting this January release as likely one of the top releases of all 2014, Portland Press Herald says Gunther Brown singer Pete Dubuc sounds like "a world-weary Steve Earle." As stellar reviews of Good Nights for Daydreams roll in, the album became the top local selling album, the band played two sold out CD release shows on the same night and local brewery, Funky Bow, released a signature Gunther Brown Ale. The band also released an official music video for the album's first single, Forever.
Having previously released two EPs, Good Nights for Daydreams is Gunther Brown's first full length album. The band was formed in 2007 with Dubuc and drummer, Derek Mills, as principals. Guitarist, Chris Plumstead, and bassist, Mark McDonough, would join up later. As personal styles meshed, the folk influences of Dubuc, marrying the rootsy blues rock influences of Plumstead, it became clear Good Nights for Daydreams would be a proper full length debut for the band.
Produced by Jonathan Wyman and mastered by Adam Ayan of Gateway Mastering, Good Nights for Daydreams also features guest vocals by Mister Moon. It was released, January 28th, 2014.
On stage, Gunther Brown has supported the likes of Eilen Jewell, Larkin Poe and Joe Pug.
