Square Dance With Black Crown Stringband, Pearsons Pork Pies
San Francisco Bluegrass & Old-Time Festival - Square Dance
Black Crown Stringband (www.blackcrownstringband.com) Black Crown Stringband is the latest supergroup to emerge from the fertile SF Bay-Area bluegrass and old-timey scene. Comprised of founding members of the Earl Brothers and the Mercury Dimes, the band first appeared at the 2008 Berkeley Old-Time Convention Stringband Contest where their hard-driving sound earned them first prize. Black Crown combine the best elements of Old Time stringband music and Bill Monroe's "high lonesome" sound to creates a unique fusion that is at once old-school and brand new. Whether playing a festival, concert or your private event, Black Crown Stringband deliver their music with high energy, soul and serious skills.
Pearsons Pork Pies Inspired by their love of Old Time Appalachian music, Pearsons Pork Pies formed in late 2006. A group of seasoned Bay Area musicians who play square dance music and call square dances, the Pork Pies have played at clubs, festivals and private events throughout the Bay Area and California. Members are Erik Pearson on banjo, Jordan Ruyle on fiddle, Amy Hofer on fiddle, Dan Kluger on guitar, and Megan Adie on bass.
