A poetry slam is a competition between poets performing original work judged by members of the audience. The content and styles are as diverse as the people of our great city.
Top finishers in the grand slam will represent The Pigeon and Philadelphia at the National Poetry Slam!
Come perform, watch or judge.
Poets wishing to compete should arrive at 8:30 to put their names in the hat. All poets who put their name in the hat pay half price. At 9:00 poets names will be picked out of the hat.

The Pigeon* is excited to announce this month's feature and workshop** leader:
CARRIE RUDZINKSKI
was named Best Female Poet at her first national poetry competition in 2008, Carrie Rudzinski has since performed her work across the United States, New Zealand, Australia, and India. Ranked 4th in the world at the 2014 Women of the World Poetry Slam and 7th at the 2013 Individual World Poetry Slam.
Carrie has represented Boston, Denver, and Los Angeles over the course of 11 national poetry competitions. She taught Poetry and Performance at California State University Northridge for the Spring 2014 semester. Her most recent book, The Shotgun Speaks, was published in 2013 and is available on Amazon.
