Oyster Club Event #5: Ride the Hill Country Flyer!
Calling All Oyster Club Members -- All Aboard! Join us on Saturday January 23, 2010 for our first Oyster Club Event of the New Year. We will ride the Hill Country Flyer (Austin Steam Train Association) in our own private rail car from the Cedar Park Train Station at 10am to Burnet, where a bus will pick us up at the train station and drive us 6 miles to visit and tour Hairston Creek Farm, a small sustainable family farm on 17 acres specializing in organic vegetables, herbs and fruit. Owners Gary and Sarah Rowland also raise pastured chickens (for eggs) as well as make delicious jams, jellies, pickles and pestos in their own state-certified commercial kitchen. On our train trip to Burnet, train conductor Ben Sargent (Pulitzer prize winning political cartoonist!), will visit our car and share the history of the Austin Steam Train Association while we enjoy a box lunch along with fabulous Paula's Texas Spirits period cocktails and beer from Saint Arnold Brewing Company, along with a selection of sodas from DRY Soda. We will be back at the Cedar Park Train Station at 4:00 pm.
