The SOAR (SSI/SSDI Outreach Access and Recovery) Initiative is designed to increase access to the Social Security Administration disability income benefit programs for eligible adults experiencing homeless or at risk of homelessness and have a mental illness and/or a co-occurring substance use disorder.
The session will focus on how to submit appropriate referrals to CenterPoint's SOAR Program. The SOAR referral process determines whether an individual meets the criteria to be assisted in applying for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and/or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI). It is suggested that providers, homeless service staff members, shelter staff members, community advocates, and other professionals attend this session to learn more about this referral process.
