Los Angeles Pierce College Theatre's 2014-2015 Season continues on December 5 with the Tony Award-winning musical Cabaret. Performances begin Friday, December 5 and continue through Sunday, December 14 in the Temporary Performing Arts Complex.
Set in Berlin, just before the takeover of Hitler's Nazi regime, the musical (with book by Joe Masteroff, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb) focuses on the societal debauchery of the time, in particular at the famous Kit Kat Klub, where the Emcee, Sally Bowles and a raucous ensemble take the stage to tantalize the crowd. Kander & Ebb's now classic musical, which premiered on Broadway in 1966, and is currently enjoying an acclaimed revival, features some of the most memorable songs in theatre history, including "Cabaret," "Willkommen" and "Maybe This Time."
LAPC Theatre's production of Cabaret is directed by Gene Putnam, with musical direction by James Domine and choreography by Denise Gibson. The cast features Quinn Knox as the Emcee, Michelle Hallbauer as Sally Bowles, Michael Beck as Cliff Bradshaw, Katie Watts-Whitaker as Fraulein Schneider, Matt DeHaven as Herr Schultz, Nicole Roberts as Fraulein Kost and Scott Aaronson as Ernst Ludwig. The ensemble includes Inna Acosta, Brianna Bauer, Parker Butin, Chris DePiazza, Laura Emberson, Leah Foster, Brett Gever, Amy Hagaman, Elyse Hamilton, Jacquel Harris, Allison Husmann, Scott Kriloff, Abdiel Lewis, Sandy Luque, Jordan Morales, Roger Ritenour, Ruth Rodriquez, Rudolph Secundino, Abby Soskin, Christian Soto and Elina Zhirov.
Scenic design is by Michael Gend, with costume design by Eileen Gizienski, lighting design by Ellie Rabinowitz and sound design by Edward Salas. Bonnie Lavin-Hughes is the assistant director, Katie Watts-Whitaker the vocal coach and Kelly O'Shea the stage manager.
