JEWISH WOMEN'S THEATRE: A Salon Theatre Series
Los Angeles based Jewish Women's Theatre (JWT) seeks out accomplished writers, encouraging them to explore their Jewish identity and create from their hearts. By establishing a home for such material, JWT expands the view of Jewish women and furthers Jewish culture.
The Salon Theatre series (its second season at the OFJCC) includes three shows:
"He Said... She Said" - A provocative show full of surprises and laughs as men and women bare all in sharing their views about food, family and fooling around. (2/2/2015, 7:30 PM)
"Uncuffed" - This funny, poignant, perfect for Passover show explores how Jewish women break the ties that bind.(3/31/2015, 7:30 PM)
"Reckoning with Dad" - Whether we love or hate the father figures in our lives, there comes a time when we must make war or peace with them. Be prepared for an evening that is as often brutal as it is amusing.(6/1/2015, 7:30 PM)
We believe that theatre begins with the written word, and therefore, ours is to be a writer's theatre and the play is to be the genesis of all our work. To this end, we nurture the development of material that might not be created without our solicitation and support, seeking out accomplished writers and encouraging them to explore their Jewish identity and create from their hearts. We believe that by establishing a home for such material, JWT expands the view of Jewish women and furthers Jewish culture.
